You must have heard the old adage, "Fire is a good servant but a bad master." Something similar can be said about the human mind. You can say that your mind can be your best friend or your worst enemy. I am sure this is not an alien concept for any person on the planet. We have all experienced times when our mind helped us solve some of the most difficult challenges and also when it ended up being a challenge in itself.
Now, which form your mind takes depends totally on how you conduct it. This is not something that most would like to hear, but it remains true nonetheless. If you let it act on its own, it might go off on you like a vengeful foe. However, if you take care of it and do certain practices, you will end up befriending it. This is really important.
You see, your mind is one of the most powerful things to exist in the history of living beings. Just take a look around you and notice all the things that exist purely because of the human mind. We have even been able to land robots on an entirely different planet with pinpoint precision just because of the power of the mind. Tap into its power, and you can manifest anything you want in life. All your dreams, desires, hopes, and aspirations can come true, if and only if your mind supports you as a best friend would.
Make Your Subconscious Work For You
Most people know about the subconscious mind but are not exactly sure what it does. They don't realize that it is this part of your mind that is pulling all your strings, without you even being aware of it. If your conscious mind is the tip of the iceberg, your subconscious is the rest of it. Did you know that it permanently stores every single thing that ever happened to you? Yeah! That's how powerful it is.
It also stores your beliefs, principles, behavioural patterns, habits, comfort zones, and other things that define who you are as a person. Suffice it to say, if this part of the mind starts acting in your favour, you will become the best version of yourself. Eventually, you will be able to craft a life for yourself that others can merely dream of.
So, now comes the million-dollar question. How do you make your mind your best friend? Well, it might require you to do some reprogramming of your subconscious. Old beliefs and patterns will need to be chugged out and new ways of doing things will need to be established. There are many practices that will greatly aid you in this regard.
One of the first ones is meditation. It literally helps you reorganize your thoughts and emotions. It allows you to monitor your mental activity in a non-judgemental manner. It also flushes out any negative or limiting beliefs that might have been instilled in your mind. You can supercharge this process by practising mindfulness in your everyday life. This involves being aware of and living in the present moment. Sounds simple, but it is really effective in centring your mind. Make sure you do these two practices every day and you'll begin to see a difference in no time at all. From there on, it's all about slowly training your mind to act like you would like it to act!
